Holy Poverty – Nothing, Yet Everything

Holy poverty is not just about having less, it’s about needing less, so that God can be everything. For St Clare, this wasn’t a lifestyle trend or external sacrifice. It was a path to God. In a world that pushes us to accumulate, secure, and control, holy poverty invites something deeper:

  • to live simply
  • to let go of attachment
  • to trust God completely

It’s not about rejecting the world, it’s about refusing to let anything take God’s place. Because the tighter we cling to things, the harder it is to receive grace.
Holy poverty creates space: space for trust, space for peace, space for God. It can be lived in different ways:

🔹️ Externally: through simple living, generosity, and restraint
🔹️ Internally: through detachment, surrender, and trust

Today, reflect: What am I holding onto that keeps me from relying fully on Him?
