Many people spend years trying to heal from painful experiences while quietly continuing to reject themselves. They forgive others but not themselves. They show compassion to everyone except the person they see in the mirror. Yet healing cannot fully enter a heart that remains at war with itself.
To love yourself is not to place yourself above others. It is to finally stand where God placed you. Neither above. Nor below. To love yourself is not pride. It is agreeing with God that your life has value.
A person who knows their dignity does not need to prove their worth. They do not beg for attention, chase approval, or remain where they are continually diminished.
You cannot protect what you do not value. You cannot care for what you secretly despise. You cannot heal what you refuse to honour. True humility is not hating yourself. It is seeing yourself truthfully: loved by God, dependent on His mercy, and worthy of the dignity He has given you. The journey of healing is, in many ways, the journey of recovering your God-given dignity.
🔸️ Speak to yourself as you would to a friend
🔸️ Stop measuring your worth by your successes or failures.
🔸️ Spend a few minutes each day thanking God for the person He created you to be.
Perhaps the greatest act of courage is to stop treating yourself as a problem to solve and begin receiving yourself as a person God is patiently restoring.
Because what is loved can heal.
And what is healed can love.
